Don Allphin shot this simple video as he and his son, Don Jr. took to the evening water on Flaming Gorge to try and catch their first burbot of the 2024 fall season.
Though they only boated four burbot between 9:00 pm and 10:30 pm, Don felt it was still okay to post this video so, hopefully, others would begin targeting burbot this fall, as the water cools, and the burbot begin to congregate for their winter spawn.
Don uses Lakeshore Tackle for his burbot fishing. Don Jr. found a white Pout Bomb to be his best lure which netted him two burbot and one lake trout pup.
While Don Sr. used a 3/4ounce Lakeshore Tackle glow jig head and glow inthedark grub bodies. Don Sr. also hooked some burbot (but not on the video) using a chartreuse Pout Bomb in the 5/8ounce size.
