What Devendra Fadnavis will do during his oathtaking as Chief Minister will be quite unprecedented for chief ministers in India.

Fadnavis has included his mother's name for his swearingin oath. It will be a special gift for his mother. The invitations sent for the December 5 swearingin bears the name Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis.

Fadnavis has added his mother's name in line with the Maharashtra government's policy announced earlier this year.

Since 1 May 2024, it's mandatory in Maharashtra to include mother's name in all government documents such as birth certificates, school documents, property documents, Aadhar cards, PAN cards.
