Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda, the Indian yogi and author of Autobiography of a Yogi, emphasized universal love, spiritual unity, and the oneness of humanity. In the modern sociopolitical sense, his teachings contain principles that address it indirectly. Here are a few relevant ideas from his philosophy:
1. Oneness of All Beings
Yogananda consistently taught that the divine presence exists in every person, regardless of race, religion, or background. He wrote:
“Forget the past, for it is gone from your domain! Forget the future, for it is beyond your reach! Control the present! Live supremely well now! This is the way of the wise.”
By living in the present and recognizing the unity of all souls, we transcend the divisions caused by prejudice and discrimination.
2. Equality in Spirit
In Autobiography of a Yogi, Yogananda highlighted the importance of looking beyond physical appearances and cultural differences:
"Man is a soul, and has a body. When he becomes the latter only, he loses the vastness of his divine possibilities."

This perspective urges us to see everyone as a reflection of the divine rather than through the lens of social constructs or biases.

3. Love as a Universal Remedy
Yogananda stressed the transformative power of love in overcoming hatred and discrimination:

"Kindness is the light that dissolves all walls between souls, families, and nations."

By cultivating love and compassion, humanity can move beyond the barriers that divide us.
4. Service to All
Yogananda's mission in founding the SelfRealization Fellowship was inherently inclusive, seeking to bring people of all backgrounds together in pursuit of spiritual truth. His teachings on service reflect the importance of helping others without regard to race, religion, or status.
