Do you know how volcanoes work?
Volcanoes are NOT like other mountains, sitting all quiet and pretty. They have a lot going on inside! It gets so hot, rocks melt (we call this molten rock magma). Pressure builds up, and eventually they ERUPT!

What comes out of a volcano? When the molten rock is on the outside, now we call it LAVA. But that's not all. There are also a variety of gases (like carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide) and ash (very fine particles of rocks, minerals, and glass).

In this video, you'll see many different volcanoes and learn about how they work. Where on Earth are they found? What do we do to keep an eye on them? Whose job is that, anyway? (Volcanologists)
