Part of a series of videos on the folklore, symbolism and Mythology of various flowers, plants, herbs and trees of Britain, Ireland and Northern Europe.

The dandelion has spread from its native Europe to most of the world. It has been used in Chinese and Arabic medicine as well as by the herbalists, witches and cunning folk of Europe.

It is a diuretic and excellent for the bladder, liver and kidneys and a bit of a miracle cure all for numerous ailments.

It is often featured in folklore and stories about fairies, the fey, and the otherworld. In magic and divination the plant is often used, to tell the future, spirit work, in dream interpretation, magic and to contact the unseen dimensions.

The dandelion, or 'lions tooth', is a solar symbol and associated with the sun in the tarot deck as well as soul journeying / voyaging in a shamanic context.

It is also a delicious and nutritious wild edible popular with foragers.
