I know that it can be difficult to keep up with many of the political and historical events that make up over 1400 years of documented ancient Assyrian history. To help you out, I’ve created this summary to give you a general idea of the role that the kingdoms and empires of Assyria played in the history of the ancient world, especially the Near East.

It's an incredible story of how the people of a relatively insignificant citystate became one of the greatest superpowers of their time. My hope is that after watching this video, you'll not only have a general understanding of Assyrian (mostly political) history, but also be somewhat familiar with a few of Assyria's great kings such as TiglathPileser, Sargon II, Sennacherib, Esarhaddon, Ashurbanipal and others.
