During the Reign of Terror, JeanPaul Marat called for the deaths of "enemies of the people," fueling the fire of fanaticism as heads rolled from the guillotine. When no man had the courage to stop him, Charlotte Corday assassinated this bloodthirsty Jacobin fanatic. While she was sentenced to the guillotine for her actions and Marat was hailed at the time as a revolutionary saint, Corday has since been hailed as a hero of France.
