At the end of the 1997 NFL season both the Lions and Jets needed a win in week 17 in order to make the playoffs. In this same game legendary Lions' running back, Barry Sanders, surpassed 2,000 yards rushing for the season. However, what many remember was the crazy ending to this contest. With the Jets trailing 1310 late in fourth quarter they had a chance to take the lead or tie, but an illfated Leon Johnson pass was intercepted to send Detroit to the playoffs.
