Hillstream loaches are undeniably a very popular option for smaller aquaria for people looking for a fish that will remove some of the algae buildup. Not quite classed as a nano fish as 2.5inches length for a big female, hillstream loaches are still easy small enough to be accommodated in the majority of tanks; they just have a few requirements in their set up.
