Gabby takes us all by surprise by laying an egg sooner than expected (approx 06.08 pm, 19 Dec) we have seen them copulating just twice, on 17 and 18 December (and this was only thanks to Gabrielle's help, who squatted on the nest for easy access), whereas it takes 510 days, from the moment of a successful copulation, to the laying of an egg.
Given that V3 (now officially Beau) has seemed incapable so far, at least on camera, to hop on Gabby's back while perched or on the nest, there's some doubt, on the part of some, about the paternity of the egg Gabby had already mated with the visitor, some weeks ago have there been some clandestine rendezvous in the woods? But we shall never know, and we are prepared to accept Beau as surrogate or real father :)
The following morning, Beau sees the egg but cannot relate to it he will bring moss and also leave some fish for Gabby, but does not incubate. When Gabby flew out for a break, he remained on the upper branches for a while, then flew off, and the egg was left unattended for about an hour.
So far, he's been watching what Gabby does will the trend (coupled with his hormones) continue?
What happens next, is anybody's guess we are experiencing an unknown scenario!

INFORMATION FOR NEW VISITORS TO THE LUCEFORALL CHANNEL: Please note that this is an entertainment channel, even though you can still learn something about the eagles and I am always happy to share whatever information I gather along the way. I often make up little stories to amuse viewers and friends and, on occasions, I use instrumental music as background, so it is not suited to everybody. If your interest in eagles is more professional, there are other channels to follow, on YouTube. This small channel wants to be a little oasis, a refuge, and I wish to promote a positive atmosphere. I will gladly accept constructive criticism, expressed in polite and friendly terms, but I will remove any insulting or rude remarks. Thank you for understanding.
