Last season, we saw this same visitor eagle come to the nest who has a soft spot for Gabby. He is the one that has a dark spot on the top of his head and unfortunately has several necrotic toes. Some called him A1 when we were naming some of the visitors who were coming in and out. He is a very handsome eagle!
This eagle visitor flies into the nest tree and nest and is vocal upon his arrival. He flies to LOP and he hangs out for a few minutes and then flies off. He returns again right before the rain started. Many times, adult eagles feel more comfortable lying in a nest during a storm like this visitor does. After the rain stops, the visitor flies off again but he returns.
Now for the third visit at night, the eagle lands on the LOP and perches for about twenty minutes before flying off into the night.
I feel so bad for this handsome eagle with his necrotic toes. They don't look good but he apparently is able to hunt and survive in spite of these old injures. He probably came back to see if he has a chance with Gabby this season. Gabby is bonded with Beau we may see this visitor a few times until Beau chases him off. My wish is that he can find a female this year and raise a family! Thank you for watching!
