The A4 Skyhawk is a light carrierbased attack aircraft created by the American Douglas Aircraft company for the US Navy and Marine Corps in the mid1950s.
The Skyhawk is an implementation of the concept of maximum design simplification in the balance with sufficient combat functionality. Thanks to this, it earned a reputation as a simple, reliable and cheap combat aircraft. The A4 has served in numerous military conflicts, most notably Vietnam. Later, thanks to the successful combination of price and efficiency, it was actively exported to various countries, served on aircraft carriers in Argentina, Brazil and Australia, and for many years was the basis of Israeli attack aviation. This proliferation was the key to longevity: created in the mid1950s, the A4 remained in service until the mid2020s. A total of 2,960 units were produced.
