It would be very easy for me to say that microphone sensativity doesn't matter but then... it does on dynamics. Therefore I could say that the microphone with the lowest self noise will pick up the lowest noise floor but that's not always true either. Actually, let's just walk thru microphone sensitivity and self noise.

In this video not only will we visually look at and listen to microphone self noise but I'll show you a situation where self noise, sensitivity and voodoo meet and the result may surprise you. In this video we'll be putting the Rode NT1, AKG C535EB and Shure SM58 microphones head to head in both self noise and sensitivity.
