Our family that visited last week has gone back home, and after a wonderful 10day visit, we're getting back to normal. It usually takes a few days to settle back into our usual routine. I’d say the hardest part of living abroad is missing family. Still, we can’t really complain, because as soon as one visit ends, another is just around the corner—particularly during the summer months. With a few days before my mom and bonus dad arrive, we’re adjusting to being just the three of us again. That means I'm back to editing full time. That week, I was working on the "One Year Progress" video, and with me back at the desk, Philippe was on digging duty—digging, scooping, and transporting soil down to the future pond area.

While Fred the Digger was working at full capacity, Bob the Dumper was giving us trouble, leaking from everywhere imaginable, from hydraulics to oil. We soon called Claude to help figure out what was wrong. We’ve since ordered all kinds of parts to fix these leaks. Even so, Bob, being an old machine, is still a powerhouse! Digging had to continue because as soon as the rain comes, everything could come to a halt.

A few days later, my mom and bonus dad arrived. Although we had many plans for things we wanted to do and places we hoped to visit, we all ended up getting sick, which forced us to slow things down much more than we’d hoped. My bonus dad, Dirk, still found the energy to harvest the potatoes, and my mom helped with Odin, making sure we had a nice meal at the end of the day. Once we started regaining our energy, it was time to give you an update on the vegetable garden. In summary: the tomatoes struggled with the wet winter and spring, the courgettes are thriving, the melons are small, and although we have potatoes, the harvest is less than expected due to the rough season. Still, for firsttime gardeners, we're pretty happy with what we’ve managed to grow!

It’s moments like these that remind us why we chose this life, with all its ups and downs. Thanks for following along on this journey with us, and we’ll see you in the next update!
