But did you know that her real name is Barbara Milicent Roberts? She was named after her creator, Ruth Handler’s daughter, but her fictional inspiration was a lot less family friendly! We’ll also talk about her counterpart, the Ken doll, named after Kenneth Handler. A woman named Bettina Dorman boasts the world’s largest collection of these toys, while famous artist Andy Warhol once immortalized one in a painting. We’ll talk about her past as a fashion model and reveal some of the strange and downright controversial dolls we’ve seen over the years.
